We offer custom extrusion solutions, mainly focused on construction, OEM, and retail applications but don’t hesitate to ask us about our capabilities. We offer secondary applications as needed for profile extrusion and can process a wide range of materials.
In the extrusion of plastics, raw thermoplastic beads (also called resin) are fed through a hopper into the barrel of the extruder. Custom additives such as colorants and UV inhibitors are often used and can be mixed into the resin prior to arriving at the hopper. The material enters through an opening near the rear of the barrel and a rotating screw forces the plastic beads forward into the barrel, which is heated to the desired melt temperature of the molten plastic.
The molten plastic enters the die, which gives the final product its profile. Almost any shape imaginable can be created as long as it is a continuous profile. The product is then cooled usually by pulling the extrudate through a water bath and calibration station.
